Historic Opening of Indian Consular Application Center in Detroit - IACC-USA Members Celebrate This Milestone.
The Indian American community in Detroit and throughout Michigan celebrated a historic moment as the Indian Consular Application Center (ICAC) officially opened its doors in Detroit, marking a transformative development for thousands of residents who have long awaited local access to essential consular services.
A Grand Opening with Distinguished Guests
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Deputy Consul General Mr. T.D. Bhutia and his dedicated team from the Indian Consulate in Chicago, alongside representatives from VFS Global and local office staff. Adding to the significance of the occasion, Indian Ambassador Mr. Vinay Kwatra addressed the gathering virtually from Washington, D.C., emphasizing the importance of this expansion for the Michigan Indian diaspora. IACC-USA members were specially invited to this momentous event, reflecting our organization's integral role in advocating for improved community services and our strong partnership with consular officials.
Part of a Nationwide Expansion
Detroit joins eight other cities in this simultaneous nationwide launch of new consular centers, demonstrating the Indian government's commitment to serving its diaspora more effectively. This coordinated expansion recognizes the growing Indian American population and their need for accessible consular services.
